Opportunity:

Reporting to the President, this position is open due to growth and expanding market opportunity. This is a key transformational role with career growth opportunity. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned operations leader to apply their developed skills and experience to raise the manufacturing capability of this multi-site manufacturing organization. We seek an experienced leader and builder who can collaboratively engage and lead a multisite workforce in an energized transformation environment.

This candidate will be responsible for all production operations for a growing multi- site operation. Key to this role will be leading continuous improvement activities and culture transformation across the business. As an experienced operations leader, they will be integral to providing direction, coordination, coaching, and counseling at the organizations production locations. The organization is continuing to add new sites as they expand.

The company is privately held. Private equity owners recognize the opportunity to introduce Lean Manufacturing methods at the sites to improve safety, quality and through put. No prior efforts have been taken to introduce LEAN concepts. Growing the skills of the entire team is essential to success.

The company is a leading high quality manufacture and enjoys a reputation of on time delivery. The company cannot fully take advantage of a growing market using current production methods. They recognize there are opportunities to introduce a LEAN culture to better utilize the organizations capabilities.

The Vice President Operations will play an integral role in the development and support of the organization’s growth plan. This is a profitable business with improvement opportunities. There is strong demand for some of its current products with significant opportunity for growth.

Capital has been invested and is available for continued growth. The position was structured to optimize the opportunity to implement systems and leverage best practices across the sites. The organization recognizes that there is opportunity to grow. This growth will require effective systems improvement. This role is key to mobilizing the manufacturing organization. The organization needs a skills builder and change leader for this role.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate for this position will be an experienced manufacturing leader with demonstrated success leading process improvement change in a process manufacturing organization. At some time during their career they will have had experience in a heavy industrial process manufacturing organization (Chemicals, Natural Materials, Concrete, Metals manufacturing or large equipment manufacturing will be preferred).

The ideal candidate will be an engaged strategic business partner and a contributing member of the leadership team. They must have solid business acumen and a detailed understanding of multi-functional business issues. They will be an effective team builder and decision maker with a high sense of urgency. They will have a demonstrated history of implementing effective operating systems including LEAN / TPS and have employed advanced analytical skills and fact based problem solving capabilities (Six Sigma). They will have strong critical thinking skills.

This candidate will understand the technology and processes but will make the biggest impact through people, processes and systems. Success in this role will require the ability to drive employee development. The performance growth will come from process improvements. They will have had experience successfully building and leading a team to reach defined objectives through effective coaching, mentoring and the development of employees. They will have demonstrated leadership ability to drive change and process improvement with a focus on delivering results. This position has a very wide variety of interactions both inside the organization and externally with suppliers and customers and requires effective interpersonal relationship skills. This candidate must have clear and effective written and oral communication skills.

This candidate will act continuously to maintain the highest standard of unquestioned professional conduct and model high integrity and credibility.

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree is required (Prefer Engineering, Chemistry, Operations Leadership, Material Science, Business or related field preferred). A graduate degree is desirable.

Internal & External Relationships:

This position is a member of the site leadership team and will report directly to the President. They must have a high level of organizational agility working across the organization, with suppliers and customers. The contact and interactions in this organization are best described as frequent and informal with a focus on getting the job done. This is a key role for coordinating essential activities, building and maintaining effective relationships is a critical skill.

Location:

This position will be based in southern, West Virginia with the ability to travel and support multiple sites within a three state region. Compensation: The compensation plan includes a competitive base salary commensurate with experience, incentive opportunity and equity. The company also provides an attractive benefit plan.
